Live updates as Manchester United take on Everton in the Premier League.

Moyes reaction

Everton boss David Moyes: “Performance wise we’ve lost narrowly to Manchester United. We narrowly beat them at Old Trafford.

“I generally think we did very well and we got done on the counter-attack.

“I think we put great effort in to get a goal but didn’t quite have the quality.”

Carrick says Sesko understands need for patience

Carrick on Sesko: “Ben’s in a good place at the moment and we’ve had some really good talks about it.”

He adds that they are helping him to “grow and develop” and that he understands the need to be patient.

Carrick expected a battle

Man Utd boss Michael Carrick: “I think there’s games where you have to do that and show different sides to your game.

“I expected a period where we’d have to find results. We did it for a point at West Ham and we did it today.

“We had to dig deep and it was a struggle at times, but sometimes they’re the best ones.”

Sesko delighted with his impact

Man Utd match winner Benjamin Sesko speaking to Sky Sports: “For me, it’s important whenever I come on to try and help the team. That is why I’m here. Whether that is five minutes or 90 minutes, it doesn’t really matter. It’s about showing I can deliver if I possibly can and I’m really happy with that.”

Lammens praises United's defensive effort

Goalkeeper Senne Lammens says United know they were not at their best today but praises his side’s defending and togetherness.

“We know it wasn’t the prettiest one today,” he tells Sky Sports.

“Today was about the hard work, defending together. We know we didn’t do our best, especially first half, it was difficult

“We have to be better on the ball but if we defend well, don’t give balls away then we have the players up top to make the difference.”

Full-time (0-1)

It’s all over and United steal all three points. The Reds were far from their best, with most of their stars delivering a sub-par performance. However, Carrick will not mind too much as they take all the points, a night which could perhaps best be described as ‘winning ugly’.

Everton will feel that their performance deserved more than defeat, but it was not to be. The Toffees chances of European football took a hit tonight but there will still be plenty of opportunities to pick up points before the end of the season.
