That’s it from our updates today!

Thanks for following and enjoy the return of club football this weekend.

Arteta on players withdrawing from national teams

“We have very good relationship and communication with most of the national teams – certainly with [England manager] Thomas [Tuchel] too.

“We have been extremely supportive all the time. When you have to communicate the state of every player, we are always honest and a medical decision had to be made. That was clear what the conclusion was.

“When you are fit and available to play for the national team, you have to play. It makes us so proud that we had that many players in the national team.

“Players are desperate to play for their nation. I know how important it is to them. We are fully supportive of that and when we can do it, we do it.”

Arteta on the rest of his injury worries

“You will see. I will let you do the speculation. You can judge afterwards.

“We are in a position right now where we need to make the strongest line-up we possibly can to win every competition. We are two or three games away from the FA Cup and we know how important that competition is for us.”

Hincapie out

Arteta confirms Hincapie is out too after suffering an injury for Ecuador.

Odegaard and Timber in contention

In better news, however, Arteta says Odegaard and Timber should be back in contention to make the squad against Southampton.

Eze still out

Arteta also confirms Ebere Eze is still sidelined, and is not sure how long that will be the case.

Madueke out - but his injury is not serious

Mikel Arteta says Noni Madueke will be out for the FA Cup game against Southampton, but that the injury he suffered with England is nowhere near as bad as first feared.

Guardiola says playing international friendlies in March makes 'no sense'

“It’s difficult for me to understand how it’s possible when you are eight or nine months playing for all the titles every three days, to bring players to another continent for friendly games for the national teams.

“Completely different if you have to qualify. The friendly games in this moment, the risk for the injuries is massive so it’s really, really no sense.”

Guardiola not worried about Foden

“Nothing, zero. He’s 25-years-old, six Premier Leagues. He’s won a lot of things and his contribution to what we have done is incredible and what happened is a normal process in a long, long, long career. It’s a normal situation.

“At the moment he will click, it will turn and he will be back to what he is.”

Guardiola on Salah leaving Liverpool

“He deserves incredible recognition for what he has given to the world of football, especially in this country.”

Guardiola on Rodri's future following his comments

Pep Guardiola has arrived for his pre-match press conference ahead of the game against Liverpool.

On Rodri’s future, following comments made by the midfielder that he would like to return to Spain before he retires, he said: “No clue, no opinion because I don’t know the intentions.

“I know the intentions of the club, I know the intentions, I think, of him, but I don’t know.”

Rosenior on Cucurella conversation

“Everybody knows Marc Cucurella, knows his character,” Rosenior said. “He’s a great character, he’s passionate, he wants to do well. I think for him, he did a long interview where he spoke with passion, he spoke his mind.

“Yesterday, when I was in the office with him for half an hour, I was to remind him, you can come and speak to me, you can be honest with me and you can be honest with the club about what you want. That takes time.

“I’ve been here for two and a half months, we’ve played 20 games. So to build those relationships and those connections takes time. But Marc is fully committed, he wants to be here. He’s made that very, very clear to me. And he actually believes in where we’re moving forward.”

More from Rosenior on decision to drop Fernandez

“It’s disappointing for Enzo to speak that way. I have got no bad words to say about him but a line was crossed but a line was crossed in terms of our culture and what we want to build.

“Enzo, firstly, as a character, a person and a player, I have the utmost respect for what he has achieved and what he is as a player. He’s frustrated because he wants us to be successful.”

Cucurella's comments

Rosenior says he has had a “fantastic” chat with Marc Cucurella, following comments he also made in an interview.

He says he was disappointed he did not come to him first with his comments, and that he should have spoken to the club.

Cucurella has not been punished, however, and will be available.

Fitness boosts for Chelsea

Levi Colwill is back in full training for Chelsea, Rosenior confirms.

Estevao and Jamie Gittens are also available, but Reece James remains out.

Enzo Fernandez DROPPED by Chelsea

Liam Rosenior says Enzo Fernandez will not be available for the FA Cup against Port Vale or next week against Manchester City because “a line was crossed” following his recent comments about his future.

Slot unsure if Isak is ready to play minutes

“You can be on the bench even if you haven’t trained with the team.

“The question is, is he ready to play some minutes? It’s a difficult one because we don’t play a normal game. What I mean is it could go to extra time, so that makes it even more complicated.

“Maybe a few minutes but let’s wait and see how he is today, how he feels about it himself and it’s clear that after two training sessions it would not make any sense to start him tomorrow.”

Frimpong should be fit to face Man City

“Yeah, he seems to be okay. Trained with us yesterday fully and will train with us tomorrow again.

“He still has a step to make in terms of (playing) every three days and then coming off for the national team, it’s another difficult and interesting choice to make, how many minutes in which games because games come so fast.”

Slot on Alisson's injury

“He will not be part of the PSG games as well. He will be out for a bit longer.

“Towards the end of the season we expect him to be fit again.”

Slot on Liverpool's 'biggest problem'

“That has been our biggest problem this season, struggling playing so many games. That has been the biggest issue for this team.

“Not the games in itself. We’ve shown we have quality players and are a good team. The amount of games has been our biggest issue.

“It’s interesting to see where we are now.”

Slot on Isak's return to training

“It would definitely be too fast to expect him in the starting line-up. He trained with us yesterday for the first time and today for the second time after exactly 101 days.

“It will take a bit of time to give him a lot of minutes but we will make sure we do the right thing in terms of building him up in minutes.

“But it’s a very good thing to have him on the training ground again.”

Slot on Salah's fitness and decision to leave

Arne Slot has arrived for his press conference ahead of the FA Cup quarter final against Manchester City, and confirmed Mo Salah is fit to play.

“Yes, he is. He trained with us yesterday and will train with us today, and is available for the game tomorrow.”

On Salah leaving at the end of the season, he said: “I think what has happened after he announced it is what he completely deserves. Anyone that was asked about his legacy said the words that needed to be said. It’s unbelievable what he did for this club for so many years.

“I saw a beautiful photo of him in front of all the trophies he’s won individually and as a team, and I can only hope he can add two extra trophies to it.”
