Only one week remains of the summer transfer window and with many more deals expected to be done, there are a number of players who could be on the move before the window shuts.
Here are FIVE who we think could still leave this summer…
Romelu Lukaku
The transfer saga that seems like it will never end. Initially, when the window started, Mauricio Pochettino was open to working with Romelu Lukaku, however, it’s become clear that the Belgian has no interest in rebuilding his career in west London.
Clubs have come and gone, the Juventus deal collapsing because of Chelsea refusing to take on Vlahvoic, with these negotiations leading to a collapse in the Inter deal. Then, most recently, Al-Hilal withdrew from the race after signing Aleksandar Mitrovic. Currently, it seems the only way the Belgian international leaves the club is if Chelsea reduces their £35m asking price or accepts loan offers. If not, then Lukaku may have to get comfy at SW6.
Likelihood: 4/10
Folarin Balogun
The great Arsenal clear out, that’s what it’s being dubbed by the newspapers this morning and Folarian Balogun is the latest name to be linked with a move away from the Emirates.
It is understood by talkSPORT that Monaco is set to make a formal bid worth more than £35m for the striker, with Chelsea having also held talks with Balogun’s advisers. This is a move that is destined to happen but whether it’s a move to the shores of the Mediterranean or the River Thames is yet to be seen.
Likelihood: 5/10
Sofyan Amrabat
This is a move that could be decided by Friday. Fiorentina has reportedly set a deadline for Sofyan Amrabat, giving him the next “48 to 72 hours” to decide his future. All summer, the Moroccan midfielder has been linked with a move to Manchester United, Liverpool, and Athletico Madrid, with the formers desperately needing enforcement in the middle of the park.
However, as the window ekes on, it appears as if Erik ten Hag’s team are the ones to land the 27-year-old. Calcio Mercato reported today that Amrabat is training on his own, waiting for United to agree a deal with Fiorentina. With this in mind, it’s only a matter of time before Amrabat and ten Hag are reunited again, after their time at Utrecht together.
Likelihood: 7/10
Ansu Fati
Throughout this summer, Ansu Fati has been linked with a move away from Barcelona with the Premier League as his most likely destination. According to Sport, Barcelona is preparing for talks with the player’s agent Jorge Mendes, with several clubs in the English top tier monitoring the situation.
For a player whose future is uncertain, this is normal behaviour from all sides, and with Xavi stating that Fati is “present and future” it would be very surprising to see the Spanish wunderkind move away from the Nou Camp this transfer window.
Likelihood: 5/10
Eberechi Eze
The murmurs have been there, as they always are when it comes to an English youngster in the Premier League during the transfer window. It had never gone past that point for Eberechi Eze, however today it was reported by the Daily Mail that Man City is considering a move for the Crystal Palace midfielder.
The move would cost £70m, and with David Ornstein today reporting that City are also looking at Wolves’ Matheus Nunes, a switch for Eze from London to Manchester this late on in the window seems unlikely.
