Five players that could move before transfer window shuts

With less than a month left of the summer transfer window, many clubs still have plenty of work to do ahead of the new football season.

Plenty of players are either on the hunt for a move or are on the radars of clubs across the world, with the likes of Harry Kane, Harry Maguire and David Raya all linked with a switch away from their respective clubs. Here are five that could still leave their teams before the end of the window…

David Raya

It looks like the Brentford goalkeeper may have played his last game for Thomas Frank’s men after turning down a new deal and publicly stating his desire to leave for pastures new. The 27-year-old has been a key man for the Bees since arriving from Blackburn Rovers in the summer of 2019, keeping 20 clean sheets in 62 Premier League appearances. A transfer to German champions Bayern Munich was rumoured before interest from Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal surface, and personal terms have reportedly been agreed between the two parties.

James Ward-Prowse

With the new Championship season starting this weekend, it is amazing to see that both James Ward-Prowse and Romeo Lavia are still plying their trade at Southampton heading into the new campaign. England international and Saints captain Ward-Prowse, who has been on the books of the south-coast club his entire career, has been subject to numerous bids from West Ham, with Southampton rejecting all of them so far. The Hammers are said to have walked away from the deal, according to Sky Sports, with the Saints demanding upwards of £40 million. Manager Russell Martin expects the midfielder to be involved in their Championship opener this weekend.

Likelihood: 8/10

Aleksandar Mitrovic

It has been quite a couple weeks if you are Aleksandar Mitrovic and Fulham. The Serbian has only recently returned to training after reportedly telling family members he would never play for the club again, with the Cottagers rejecting two bids for the forward from Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal, the second being in the region of £35 million. With three years left on his contract, Mitrovic is valued at around £52 million by Fulham and is one of the club’s most prized assets after scoring 14 goals in the Premier League last season.

Likelihood: 6/10

Nicolas Pepe

Nicolas Pepe’s time at Arsenal might be finally coming to an end after four years at the club. Loaned out to Nice last campaign, the Ivorian had a mixed season, with only six goals in 19 appearances for the French club. The 28-year-old was not involved in Arsenal’s pre-season tour of the United States, with manager Mikel Arteta stating it was down to injury. Now Turkish giants Besiktas appear to be the former Ligue 1 Player of the Year’s most likely destination this summer, with the Super Lig side hopeful of landing the winger on a free transfer.

Likelihood: 7/10

Ousmane Dembele

A signing that is close to completion, as Ousmane Dembele looks set to depart Barcelona for French champions Paris Saint-Germain in a €50 million deal. The 26-year-old Frenchman returns to France seven years after leaving Rennes for Borussia Dortmund in 2016. 83 goal contributions in 185 matches for Barcelona in an injury-hit six seasons in Spain for Dembele, with his final goal for the Blaugrana coming in last weekend’s pre-season El Clasico against Real Madrid.
