We’ll have updates throughout the day from all of today’s Premier League news as managers speak to the media in their pre-match press conferences.
Ruben Amorim says he can relate to Ange Postecoglou and the pressure he’s under but believes Man Utd are a bigger club than Spurs.
“I am a huge fan of Ange Postecoglou. I am from a different culture, Portuguese and all the Portuguese coaches they can adapt. I adapt. I use one system because I believe if you do that system, you can use other systems at the same time. That is my idea.
“But, we are not winning games and I understand the connection with me and Ange, we have the same problems. In my opinion, with all due respect, I am at a bigger club, with bigger pressure. It is important for a coach to follow his principles.”
Ruben Amorim says there have been some injury setbacks among his squad but would not say for who.
“It was a good week until two days ago.
“We had some problems also. We don’t have players back. Maybe we have one or two issues, we are waiting.
“We have one player also who is sick so we will see who is fit. But it was good to work with team, to feel the players and try and improve performances.”
Pep Guardiola on Man City’s injuries, Newcastle and his side’s problems against Real Madrid…
Postecoglou on Cristian Romero’s recovery: “With [Cristian] Romero, it has been a healing issue. The injury hasn’t healed as quickly as we would have liked. We could have pushed him but we are just waiting. Depending on what happens, his return could be imminent as well.”
“With Micky, we made a decision and the catalyst with that is about looking beyond the injury about how we can get him into a good space. He is working with people on the mechanics of him. He is in a good space, training and feels really good. His return is imminent but we want to get it right.”
“Yes, on the injury front it is good to have players back because it raises the quality of our training. [Guglielmo] Vicario, yes. Trained really well. James Maddison is good to go. We’ve had Destiny [Udogie], Wilson [Odobert] and Brennan [Johnson] training with the group. They are in a good place.”
“We have always been so comfortable with the ball and we are now not so. You then have to rely on a physical presence and our physicality is not like other teams.”
Guardiola on Jack Grealish’s injury: “I don’t know if he will be ready tomorrow, I don’t think he will be, but we will assess him in the next hours.”
On Nico Gonzalez: “Day by day he is getting better. He will also be assessed in a few hours.”
A big blow for Man City and Pep Guardiola with Manuel Akanki ruled out for eight to ten weeks.
“He will have surgery on Saturday and eight-10 weeks out. It’s an adductor injury.
“I just wish him a speedy recovery because the effort he has put in this season has been unbelievable. Him and Nathan [Ake] have played in difficult positions.
“There has been a lack of players in that position and his body has said enough is enough.”
“Anthony [Gordon] should be fine, he has trained this week, no problems. It was a thigh problem, but he responded well to treatment over the weekend and has trained well.
“It’s good news on [Sven Botman] scan, we don’t think there’s any long-term issue there. Short term there’s still a bit of pain for him, we think he will miss this weekend. Hopefully won’t be far away for the following games.
“The initial look on Dan [Burn] wasn’t positive but, he had a scan which was good, he has improved a lot very quickly, so he could be close this weekend.”
Everton boss David Moyes admits concern over the injury which forced Iliman Ndiaye off against Liverpool: “He has got a medial ligament injury. It’s not looking great at the moment. But probably not sure about how long it is going to be. It’s certainly going to be a few weeks anyway.”
Mikel Arteta on dealing with Kai Havertz’s injury, a possible free agent signing, and returning to action against Leicester…
“All the players will have more exposure and Raheem is certainly one of them.”
“We train less than ever. We have no time.
“We don’t train the muscles, that’s the problem.”
“We will explore every possible situation and make a decision from there.”
“You look at all the injuries that have happened in the last two seasons and this season especially, it’s higher than ever.”
“We are going to have players in the frontline who are very unpredictable. It’s going to give teams headaches.”
“He was going to stop a shot, stretched his leg and did his hamstring.”
Arteta is asked if he will have to limit his ambitions because of the injuries: “If I do that I prefer to go home. No chance.”
“We always we knew we were an injury or two away from a very difficult situation.
“When you try your best you can have regrets but at least you know you’ve done it.”
“Every case is very different. Some are based on load. We have players who have played 130 games in the last two seasons.”
“They make life very difficult for you.
“You can see the spirit and they are very much alive.”
“Ben has been training more regularly. We have to manage his load but he will be available.”
Arteta says Saka is still in the “early stage” of his rehab.
“Leo will play in two or three different positions.
“We will have to be a little bit different.”
