Arteta on free scoring Gunners: “We have to continue to do that”

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has been delighted with his side’s ability to share the goals around in recent games.

Arsenal have scored 14 goals in their last five games with nine different players grabbing goals, as the Gunners have turned their fortunes around since the defeat against Newcastle last month.

Arsenal head into the midweek clash with Luton in scintillating form, two points clear at the top of the table. Arteta confirmed that all his players have a desire to get on the scoresheet.

“Yes it is really good! The team has goals, they come from different places which makes it more unpredictable. The players are eager to score as well”, Arteta said.

“Last season we had something very similar, we shared the goals in a great way, and we have to continue to do that.”

Opponents Luton Town have made life difficult for top six teams who have visited Kenilworth Road. They were minutes away from a famous victory against Liverpool, before Luis Diaz equalised in added time.

Arteta and Rob Edwards have a close relationship, both managers were completing their FA coaching badges at the same time. Now they face off in the Premier League as opponents.

Arteta waxed lyrical about his opposite number, and the respect he has for the Luton boss.

“I would say it’s an inspiring place. What they’ve done is remarkable. What Rob did, the way they transmit as a team. We are neighbours almost. They deserve a lot of credit. It is an amazing story”, said the Arsenal manager.

“He’s a great coach. A really special person as well. You can tell by the way he coaches his teams and the way his team behaves. I am very happy for him.

Tomorrow we are going to have a really intense and difficult match.”
