Guardiola unhappy with Man City body language in win over Everton

Man City manager Pep Guardiola

Pep Guardiola admits he was left frustrated by his Man City side’s body language in the first half of their 2-0 victory over Everton.

Erling Haaland struck twice late on following a goalless first half to secure the victory for Guardiola’s side.

And while the City boss praised his team for their second-half improvement, he says he was left unhappy at half-time due to the body language of his players.

“We knew it, I told them, they didn’t believe me, they felt it,” Guardiola told TNT Sports when asked how hard his players had to work for the victory.

“These type of victories count more than the other ones by far, like Brentford a few days ago.

“The first half, our body language was not good. We complain all the time and that is not the way.

“The second half they were more positive and you have to be positive when you do something. If you want to give the best of yourself, the body language has to be in the right position.

“In the second half we showed a little bit better and finally we took a massive important three points.”

Kevin de Bruyne assisted Haaland for his second of the afternoon, with the duo having played very little together this season due to their separate injury problems.

And Haaland says he is enjoying playing with the midfielder once again.

“It’s mostly natural,” Haaland told TNT Sports.

“For me, I see a lot of football and I already saw for many years where he plays the ball and he hasn’t changed anything in the last five years, where he puts the ball.

“For me it was about coming in to finish those actions.

“It’s a good feeling to play again and start at home, and of course it’s an amazing feeling to win the game.”
