Hayters TV predictions: Who we think will finish top four

Premier League clubs

With the new Premier League season getting underway this week, we at Hayters TV have made our predictions for who we think will finish in the top four.

We’ve gone with our top four predictions for now, though it could be that the top five qualify for Champions League football given the changes to the competition starting from next season..

Dan Ludlam

1 – Man City

2 – Chelsea

3 – Arsenal

4 – Liverpool

Fully expect Manchester City to dominate as in previous years, and they will run away with it in possibly Pep Guardiola’s final season. With no European distractions, some good additions and under Mauricio Pochettino’s guidance, Chelsea will be the surprise package and finish best of the rest. Fancy Arsenal to start strongly but fade away with their return to the Champions League proving tricky, while Liverpool will secure a return to Europe’s top table just ahead of Man Utd.

1 – Man City

2 – Liverpool

3 – Arsenal

4 – Man Utd

Manchester City to win again, with their closest challengers Liverpool and then Arsenal. Chelsea and Manchester United will be fighting for fourth place, while Newcastle, Brighton and Villa may find European demands weaken them on the home front.

1 – Man City

2 – Arsenal

3- Man United

4- Newcastle

The only thing that can stop City will be a definitive FFP investigation and punishment. Arsenal are still young and a year or two away from being ready to win (think Liverpool in run up to 2020). The rest are refreshingly hard to predict so I’m not overly confident here.

Dan Bennett

1 – Manchester City

The treble winners have lost some key players this summer and could yet lose more, but still have the quality necessary to secure a fourth Premier League title on the trot.

2 – Manchester United

An impressive summer transfer window which has seen them upgrade in key areas. Andre Onana will provide far better distribution from the goalkeeper spot, Mason Mount adds energy and depth in midfield and Rasmus Hojlund has the attributes to be the number nine they needed last season.

3 – Arsenal

I don’t think they’ll finish far behind United and they’ve added some quality signings to the squad, especially Declan Rice, but will face a tougher Premier League this season.

4 – Liverpool

Plenty of change at the club this summer with experienced players like Jordan Henderson, Roberto Firmino and Fabinho all moving on. May take time for them to develop consistency and they still need a defensive-minded midfielder, but still have one of the best players in the world in Mo Salah.

Stan Smith

1 – Arsenal

Off the back of an impressive 23/24 campaign, Arsenal have spent big and strengthened during the transfer window. Should City falter, there is every reason that Arsenal can go one better than last year and claim their first title in 20 years.

2 – Manchester City

Following their long and arduous treble-winning season, City now confront an even more congested fixture calendar. Guardiola has stressed the impact that last season had on his players and the consistency required for a fourth successive title may prove too demanding. Despite this, I do predict that City will repeat their Champions League triumph.

3 – Man United

United looked impressive for some periods last season and have been active in the transfer market. However, I still feel that they are not on the same level as City or Arsenal. With their reliance on Rashford and Bruno Fernandes and the continued questions over their ownership, things have the potential to go wrong at Old Trafford and I don’t expect them to better their finish from last season.

4 – Liverpool

Last season was very disappointing for Liverpool and a return to the Champions League will be the minimum of Klopp’s aims this year. The midfield overhaul at Anfield leaves some questions for the upcoming season and as yet, they are still missing a Fabinho replacement. Should things go right they could challenge for the title, should they not, then they will be under threat from Chelsea, Newcastle, Spurs and Aston Villa.

Anthony Cooper

1 – Man City

2 – Man United

3 – Newcastle

4 – Arsenal

Man City will once again be dominant whilst stalling and keeping the 115 charges at bay. The added fixture congestion of the Champions League will harm Arsenal’s chances of a title push. Ten Hag’s United side will continue to flourish with Rashford as his leading man and Newcastle will gain a spot in the table rankings as they grow. Liverpool will claim the extra fifth spot for the Champions League should the Premier League be awarded it.

Jack Kelly

1 – Manchester City

2 – Arsenal

3 – Liverpool

4 – Manchester United

I’d like to think Arsenal can go one step further and win the title. With the additions of Rice, Havertz and Timber I think they can push Manchester City all the way. Manchester City are a machine and they win game after game after game but are maybe a little short with no Gundogan and Mahrez but with Haaland’s goals and the way they play, they have to be favourites.

Nazira Yusuf

1 – Manchester City

Pep Guardiola’s side won a remarkable treble last season, and despite the exits of Ilkay Gundogan and Riyad Mahrez, they undoubtedly have the most powerful striker the Premier League has ever seen, partnered with one of the greatest playmakers in league history in Kevin De Bruyne.

2 – Arsenal

Having won the 2023/24 Community Shield on penalties against Manchester City, it has surely given the Gooners optimism going into the Premier League season. Having coming agonisingly close last season to winning the Premier League title they will want to maintain those levels again and Mikel Arteta has certainly been busy this summer having bought Declan Rice, Jurrien Timber, and Kai Havertz have all joined for around a combined £200 million. But having taken into consideration their involvement in the Champions League and cup competitions I can see them finishing second as their squad depth just isn’t at the level of Manchester City and the additional demand of playing in the Champions League next season.

3 – Chelsea

This prediction may catch people by surprise and rightly so given they had a disastrous last season but a lot has changed at Stamford Bridge. They’ve changed manager and brought in Mauricio Pochettino who has experience of managing at the high level and he will surely solve their identity crisis. The squad has been hugely trimmed down with many players departing but on the other hand they have a massive depth of talented youngsters, who will be hoping they can relish under the guidance of the Argentine. Having no European football to think about will result in Chelsea having more intensity to their play and they can solely focus on the Premier League and the domestic competitions.

4 – Liverpool

Liverpool missed the Champions League for the first time since 2016 after finishing fifth last season. The Reds had significant issues in midfield and defence last season, but they are optimistic that their new additions will allow them to contend for the title or at least, more crucially, the top four. They have had a strong pre-season and with Luis Diaz, Mo Salah, Diogo Jota, and Darwin Nunez, they won’t struggle to score goals, but their defensive weaknesses must be addressed. After adding two midfielders, Dominik Szoboszlai and Alexis Mac Allister, in the summer, they are also hoping to add another player before the transfer window shuts.

James St Denis

1 – Man City

2 – Arsenal

3 – Liverpool

4 – Newcastle

Man City looked imperious last season and even with departures, they still have the strongest, most complete side in the division. Arsenal will look to challenge again, with another year of experience under their belts, but their naivety will be their downfall again. The rest will all be within touching distance of each other, so it will be difficult to predict who will beat who.
