Eddie Howe insists that he wants clarity on whether Alexander Isak will be staying or leaving Newcastle this summer.

The Swedish striker has made it clear that he wants to leave St. James’ Park as he did not travel for Newcastle’s Asia tour and also has missed the Magpies’ first two matches of the season.

Isak also did not attend the PFA Player of the Year awards due to all the ongoing speculation about his futre.

The forward has been linked with Liverpool this summer and Newcastle have reportedly rejected a bid worth £110 million from the Reds for the forward.

The Newcastle boss has had to start the first two Premier League fixtures without a striker in the Swede’s absence and is unaware if the striker will be at the club come September.

“From our side, we want clarity, we want to move forward. We want the narrative to change because we’re in the start of the season now, we’re into the action and we’ve got to get results and we’ve got to try and focus on what we can control,” Howe explained.

“We’ve given two really, really good performances. We’ve ended up with one point. That’s tough for us to take and especially in this moment where you are looking for positive to clinging to, but we battle through and we now go on to Leeds.”

Newcastle chairman Yasir Al-Rumayyan was in attendance as the Magpies lost 3-2 to Liverpool and Howe was asked if the owner had held any talks with the striker: “I’m not aware of that but I’ve not been party to talks on this for a long time now.

“I’ve been preparing the team, giving all my energy to the players that want to play for Newcastle. I think that’s where my energy is best.

“I’m not party to the talks that have been happening, so I’ve got no idea where that stands.”

  1. It better for both party to sort it out for their good
The season is on and cubs need their player to up there for the seasons ahead of time.
Isak is a good player most Club will want , also both party have got the rights to negotiate points in time ,as they say time wait for no one.
Isak must respect the Club decision in this transfer of things.
Staying away means he want to force himself out ,while the Club want more of him to prosecute the newly started season. The Club Liverpool really want him they should meet the demand of the Club Newcastle with the due processing the transfer.
This is my humble responding to this saga .
