‘I have more to do’ – Jorginho signs new Arsenal deal

Arsenal midfielder Jorginho has penned a new deal to extend his stay at the club.

The Italian’s contract was due to expire at the end of the current season but his new deal means he is set to stay at the Gunners.

Jorginho signed for the club in January 2023 from Chelsea and has since gone on to make more than 50 appearances in all competitions.

“I’m really, really happy to stay, because it’s a privilege to be a part of this family,” Jorginho said.

“My family is happy, we are really well settled and I feel that I have more to do.”

The 32-year-old has made 24 appearances in the Premier League this season as the Gunners look to secure a first league title since 2004.

“I’d say that we are enjoying it because it’s a beautiful journey,” Jorginho added.

“It’s a special moment, a special thing we’ve been doing, and I think we need to push and enjoy the moment, every single day.

“To be where we are, we worked hard. So much. We did so much and we need to be proud of what we’ve been doing. We need to trust what we’re doing and believe it.”

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta said: “We’re delighted that Jorgi has signed a new contract with us.

“Jorgi is such an important part of our team, a role model with great leadership skills and a unique playing style ability which makes everybody better around him on the pitch.

“We’re very pleased that Jorgi and his family have committed with us and we’re all excited to continue this journey together.”
