Klopp says ‘deal agreed’ for Moises Caicedo to Liverpool, but Chelsea will not give up

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp confirmed a deal for Moises Caicedo had been agreed on Friday morning, but the midfielder’s future remains up in the air with Chelsea continuing with their attempts to sign the Brighton man.

Chelsea have been in talks to sign Caicedo all summer but have seen their bids to sign the Ecuadorian knocked back by Brighton.

And Liverpool trumped Chelsea’s offer with a remarkable £111m deal on Thursday evening which Brighton accepted and it was expected personal terms would not be an issue.

But the Blues could yet come back with another bid which exceeds the package Liverpool have offered.

It’s some statement from Liverpool and for Klopp, who confirmed in his pre-match press conference that a deal has been struck with Brighton.

“First and foremost I’ve been told that the deal is agreed,” he told reporters at the club’s training ground.

“With the player, we will have to see. Let’s see.”

Klopp refused to comment on whether Caicedo will undergo a medical today but with the two sides set to face each other on Sunday, it is yet to be determined which shirt Caicedo could be wearing.
