Klopp says Liverpool would reject Salah bid and calls for Saudi transfer window changes

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says Mohammed Salah is still 100% committed to Liverpool and insists the club have received no offers for the forward amid interest from Saudi Arabia, Nazira Yusuf writes.

Salah is reportedly a target for Saudi Pro League side Al-Ittihad, who have already signed Karim Benzema and N’Golo Kante this summer.

Liverpool have already lost Jordan Henderson and Fabinho to the Saudi Pro League but Klopp says Salah will not be joining the duo in moving there this summer.

“It’s media stories, there’s nothing to talk about from our point of view,” Klopp said.

“Mo Salah is a Liverpool player and obviously for all the things we do, he is essential, always will be.

“There’s nothing there. If there was something (a bid) then the answer would be no.

“My life philosophy is I think about a problem when I have it. There is absolutely nothing at the moment.

“I said already if there would be something, the answer would be no.”

The Saudi transfer window does not close until September 23 – three weeks after the Premier League window shuts on September 1.

And Klopp has called for changes to be made to the Saudi window to bring it in line with the Premier League and most other European countries.

“What makes it pretty much not possible to deal with anymore is the moment our transfer window closes and the other transfer window stays open,” he added.

“How can we react if we have a squad together ready for the season? From that moment on, we play until the 1st of January and this is our team, our squad.

“It’s new, it’s challenging for everybody and we have to learn to deal with it I would say. But the authorities should make clear that if you want to be part of the system then do your business the same time as all the others at least.

“If we cannot change the rest, at least change that.”
