The Lionesses have confirmed they will take on four global rivals across the country in the ‘Homecoming Series’ ahead of starting the road to the 2027 FIFA World Cup, with dates against Brazil, Australia and Ghana added to the calendar.
The EURO 2025 winners, who begin World Cup qualification next February, will welcome
the South American champions Brazil to the City of Manchester Stadium on Saturday 25
October [5.30pm kick-off]. In an exciting return to action for the first time since the summer
success, they will then meet their 2023 FIFA World Cup semi-final opponents Australia at
the home of Derby County FC the following Tuesday 28 October [7pm kick-off].
The ‘Homecoming Series’ will continue at Wembley Stadium connected by EE with the
previously announced fixture against Asian champions China PR on Saturday 29 November.
More than 60,000 tickets have already been sold for the meeting at the national stadium. A
memorable Lionesses year will draw to a close with confirmation of a first-ever meeting
with Ghana at Southampton FC on Tuesday 2 December [7pm kick-off].
Head coach Sarina Wiegman said “It is great that we can return to action after our
incredible summer with four exciting fixtures at home. Each opponent will challenge us in
different ways, which is exactly what we need with World Cup qualification beginning early
next year.
“It’s very nice to begin against Brazil and it is also special for us to be able to play
again for our fans in Manchester for the first time since EURO 2022. We know from the
Finalissima in 2023 that they will be very tough opponents.
“We love taking the team around the country, so to also play Australia in Derby and Ghana
in Southampton as well as the China PR fixture at Wembley gives us a lovely way to say
‘thank you’ for the incredible support we have had this year and before.”
