Live updates as Manchester City host Brighton & Hove Albion.
Guardiola is asked what makes this season different to the last one: “It’s quite obvious. It’s the way we played and the energy we have. Simple.
“The energy and the way we play will create the chance we create. It’s just we don’t put the ball in the net.”
Asked how long Savinho is likely to be out for, Guardiola says: “Long.”
Out for the season? “No! Long is long but it’s not a century.
“I don’t know. A month and a half, two months. He will be back.”
On whether he could sign another forward: “I don’t know. I don’t know what’s going to happen in the transfer window.”
“Of course if we don’t win games we cannot think about those things. We had an incredible result at Nottingham Forest, a tough game, and after we play three games really good.”
“Many good things but we don’t score goals. It’s not just one or two players, it’s all the people up front and unfortunately we could not score. Scoring goals is part of doing your job.
“It’s not just one player, it’s everyone, and that’s the reason why we cannot win the games.”
Pep Guardiola asked if his side deserved to win: “It’s not about whether we deserve it. The result is the result.”
Brighton boss Fabian Hurzeler: “We are pleased how we performed, how we defended, how we created chances.
“But I think we did too many easy mistakes where we invited them to score goals and that’s what we have to improve.”
Just seconds remain but Brighton have a corner here.
It could be the final action of the game.
Five minutes have been added on.
A goal here would be decisive. Brighton are hanging on with everything they have.
Another shooting opportunity and it is off target again from Cherki.
City will only have themselves to blame if they fail to walk away with three points tonight.
City are creating so many chances but are being let down by their finishing.
Cherki is the latest to squander an opportuniry.
Mitoma and Ayari are withdrawn.
Watson and Milner enter the action.
Good pressure from Cherki and Haaland sees the former steal the ball inside Brighton’s box.
Cherki squares to Haaland who has to score but strikes straight at Verbruggen.
Welbeck and Gruda are sent on.
Rutter and Gomez are the two to make way.
Haaland rises and wins the header at the front post from a City corner.
He flicks it on towards goal but Brighton are able to clear.
City look heavily fatigued and Guardiola turns to his bench for more energy.
Cherki, O’Reilly and Lewis replace Foden, Ake and Nunes.
Brighton go so close to scoring a second.
A misheader from Nunes allows Mitoma and after his cross is somehow scrambled away, it comes back to him and he pokes against the post from point blank range.
As Foden drives towards goal, he is brought down from behind by Mitoma.
The goalscorer has no complaints as the referee produces the yellow card.
The visitors are not settling for a draw here.
Brighton have the ball in City’s area a number of times, as they look for a goal that would put them ahead.
Rodri is on for Gonzalez.
City need to find a way to get themselves back ahead now.
Donnarumma and De Cuyper are booked in the aftermath of the goal.
The Brighton man tried to steal the ball, seemjngly to run the clock down a little bit.
Brighton are level!
Mitoma is allowed far too much space on the edge of the box and he punishes City, wrapping a left-footed effort into the bottom corner.
Van Hecke has a history of trying to wind up Haaland when they meet each other.
His constant off the ball shirt pulls have now landed him a yellow card.
A big chance for City’s captain just 30 seconds into the second half.
However, from the edge of the six-yard box, Silva hits the outside of the post.
Reijnders takes the second half kick-off and we are back underway here!
No changes from either manager so far.
The first-half comes to an end and on the balance City probably deserve their lead. Brighton started strongly but have not offered much in the past half an hour or so.
The hosts have not created as much as they perhaps could have on another day. Guardiola will be pleased with his centre-backs so far. Alleyne (20-years-old) and Khusanov (21-years-old) have both looked very comfortable, especially for their age.
