Man Utd duo could miss rest of the year but ten Hag confirms Rashford will return

Erik ten Hag says he does not expect Casemiro or Lisandro Martinez to play for Manchester United before Christmas.

Martinez has a metatarsal injury which has required surgery while Casemiro sustained a hamstring injury in the Carabao Cup defeat to Newcastle last week.

“I have some time schedules, yeah, but it’s always difficult to predict that because they can get setbacks during the rehab period so I’m always holding back a little bit on some issues,” Ten Hag said on his injured players.

“I expect some back but Casemiro and Martinez are really strong injuries and I don’t expect them back before Christmas. It’s several weeks.”

Left-backs Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw have also missed much of the season through injury but could return to the squad after the next international break.

But both Harry Maguire and Marcus Rashford will be available for United’s Champions League clash with FC Copenhagen on Wednesday.

Maguire suffered both head and hand injuries in the win over Fulham on Saturday while Rashford missed the game altogether.

“We did all the protocols during the game, after the game, so he (Maguire) is ready to play,” Ten Hag said. “Rashford? 100%. Harry was fine in the game, so no problems.”
