That’s all from Old Trafford!
Thanks for following along.
And here is Ruben Amorim’s HEATED post-match press conference in which he staunchly defended Altay Bayindir from criticism.
Mikel Arteta’s full post-match press conference is available to watch on our YouTube channel:
“It’s a fight for places.
“We will see what is going to happen in the market.
“It was different characteristics. Rasmus has the same characteristics as Sesko so sometimes we need to choose.”
Amorim says he did not ‘drop’ Andre Onana today, and insists he is happy with his goalkeeping options.
“I didn’t drop Onana from the squad.
“It is not the case of dropping Onana. Not putting in Andre Onana after just one week without seeing a game, without time training.
“Tom and Altay, during the pre-season they did a very good job.
“We proved today that we can win any game in the Premier League. Especially against a great team like Arsenal and we were the better team.
“I’m happy with the players. I’m happy with the three goalkeepers.”
“We play better. We were the better team and in the end we lose the game.
“But I’m really proud of the work that they put in on the field and that is important to move forward.”
Amorim has launched a strong defence of his goalkeeper when it is suggested he has conceded goals like the one he did today before.
“He suffer a goal like this when?
A reporter responds against Tottenham last season and Amorim says “But without VAR.
“With VAR, it’s a foul. And then what happened in the next game against Arsenal? Who saved the penalty? Who saved the game?
“You don’t remember the game, I remember the game. Altay was unbelievable in that game. I consider everything to put one in or the other. I choose Altay.”
Ruben Amorim on Arsenal’s goal and whether it should have been a foul on his goalkeeper Altay Bayindir.
“When you touch the goalkeeper in that way, he needs to use his hands to catch the ball, not to push players, or he chooses to push players and let the ball past.
“But again, it’s the rules, if it’s allowed we need to do the same thing.
“You choose to push a player or get the ball in that moment. He chooses to get the ball but he’s getting pushed so he cannot defend himself.
“That is my feeling when I see the play but again, we need to do the same.”
Some huge praise from Arteta for his goalscorer Riccardo Calafiori.
“He has the capacity to change the energy.
“He comes in the room and changes the energy in the room, he changes the energy in the team, he has an aura, he has a presence, that is special.
“He’s a player that is very unpredictable for the opponent because he can occupy very different spaces, he can do things in and around your box, in the middle, that is very difficult to predict.
“Very happy with him.”
Arteta says Viktor Gyokeres’ performance was encouraging but that he has to work on things like his pressing.
“He didn’t have many chances to do that (score) because as I said, in the previous action before we had to play that last ball, we didn’t manage to put the ball through to exploit his quality.
“Overall, coming away to Manchester United and winning your first game with Arsenal, it’s a good start.”
Arteta says his side gave the ball away too often when they were in promising situations.
“There are seven or eight situations where we are completely open to play through and we’re on and attacking their keeper but then we give the ball away and then it becomes a basketball game.”
Arteta praises his side’s resilience despite not being at their best.
“It gives you momentum and confidence, two very important things.
“When you’re not at your standards in certain aspects, like today we weren’t, we can still find a way to win. The team has to find that resilience throughout the season.
“Of course we have to improve a lot of things and that will happen very soon.”
Mikel Arteta in his post-match press conference: “A big, big result coming in the first game to Old Trafford and when you feel they are building something, especially with the momentum of building something with the new signings.”

Bruno Fernandes says Man Utd fans’ reaction to defeat against Arsenal has given him ‘hope’
Man Utd captain Bruno Fernandes says there is reason to be hopeful despite the defeat to Arsenal.
“We have a big hope for what we want to do and what we want to achieve,” he told Sky Sports.
“I really liked the reaction of the fans at the end. I really appreciate what they did. That was more a sign of hope than what we did during the game.”
Arsenal’s match-winner Riccardo Calafiori praises the Gunners set-piece threat once again.
“Like always we were working a lot on set-pieces and that is what we showed today.”
Arsenal were far from their best but they got the three points and that is what ultimately counts. Arteta will know that there is work to be done.
Despite the result, Amorim will be pleased, United played with an intensity and direction which was completely absent last season.
It’s all over and Arsenal have secured a valuable three points on the road at Old Trafford.
The game was won and lost by the respective side’s goalkeepers. Raya produced a number of great stops to maintain his clean sheet. Bayindir had little to do and failed to deal with a corner when he was called upon.
Arsenal break forward and it’s brilliant work from Saka to pick out Madueke at the back post.
He should seal the game but somehow he doesn’t score.
United have a corner in the closing moments.
This could be their last chance.
A loose touch from Lewis-Skelly almost allows Mbeumo to break away but he brings him down.
The youngster is shown a yellow card.
Bukayo Saka has his first opportunity of the match.
Matthijs de Ligt just does enough to deflect the shot over the bar.
The fourth official has indicated that there will be a minimum of six additional minutes.
There is still plenty of time for a second goal in this game.
Timber is shown a yellow card for time wasting.
The Dutch international delayed the restart when stood over a throw-in.
Arsenal are under all sorts of pressure with the ball flying around their box.
However, United just cannot seem to fire an effort at goal.
