The United players are now going on their ‘lap of appreciation’.

“After this disaster season, I want to tell you that the good days are coming.”
Ruben Amorim has said to the fans: “First of all, I want to apologise for this season. I know you are really disappointed with me and with the team.
“Second thing, I want to say thank you, we are very grateful for your support during the season, I know it was very hard.”
Victor Lindelof, Christian Eriksen and Jonny Evans have played their final matches for United.
They are applauded by the home supporters.
United’s players have stayed out on the pitch and will be completing a lap of honour shortly.
After such a disappointing season, it is not surprising that less than half of Old Trafford has remained full.
The referee’s whistle ends the game. It was probably the perfect response to Wednesday night’s disappointment that Ruben Amorim would have been hoping for. Uncertainty still surrounds the future of many of United’s players but at least they signed off the season with a victory.
Villa were simply not at the races today. Unai Emery’s side were second-best from minute one and things were only made worse by Emi Martinez’s red card. Newcastle’s defeat means Villa and the chance to qualify for the Champions League but they did not take it. They will line up in the Europa League next season.
Jonny Evans almost heads home from a United corner.
It would have been a dream ending for the veteran defender.
A late yellow card is shown to Casemiro.
The Brazilian brought down Malen to prevent a Villa counterattack from forming.
Villa are not giving up hope just yet and are continuing to pile forward.
Bayindir produces a good stop to deny Matty Cash and he follows it up with another good stop to keep Youri Tielemans’ header out.
The fourth official has indicated that there will be eight minutes of added time.
The result looks to be settled now.
On what is likely to be his last game for United, Christian Eriksen takes and converts the penalty.
Things have gone from bad to worse for Villa and Champions League qualification is surely out of reach for them now.
This afternoon gets even worse for Villa as a penalty is awarded to United.
Ian Maatsen stands on Diallo’s heel just inside the box and the referee points to the spot. The visitors were already furious about their disallowed goal and this has only added to their frustration.
Boubacar Kamara and Morgan Rogers are withdrawn.
Ross Barkley and Donyell Malen are on.
Rasmus Hojund is taken off for Chido Obi.
After another disappointing afternoon in front of goal, you wonder whether the Danish striker will still be leading the line at Old Trafford next season.
The referee awards United a soft free-kick as Fernandes goes down easily under contact from Rogers.
The Englishman, who had a goal ruled out not long ago, is furious with the decision and the referee. His reaction earns him a yellow card.

Diallo meets Fernandes’ cross at the back post and heads home to give United the lead. Villa now need to score to earn Champions League qualification.
United almost fell behind to an absolutely comical goal. A poor header from Harry Maguire leads to Altay Bayindir rushing out to stop Morgan Rogers.
The Englishman steals the ball from the Turkish goalkeeper and finishes into an empty net. However, it is disallowed as the officials believe Bayinidir had two hands on the ball when Rogers stole it from him.
Everton have scored to take the lead against Newcastle.
It means as it stands, Villa have gone fifth and will qualify for the Champions League.
Can they hang on?
Ayden Heaven is replaced by Jonny Evans for what is likely to be the veteran defenders final appearance.
Christian Eriksen is also on, in place of Mason Mount.
Unai Emery makes two changes to his midfield.
John McGinn is withdrawn for Youri Tielemans and Amadou Onana comes off for Jacob Ramsey.
Hojlund is in behind the Villa defence and has yet another opportunity. However, he firest straight at Olsen.
This game is really highlighting United’s lack of a clinical finisher.
Mainoo picks the pocket of Pau Torres inside the visitors’ box. He squares it to Hojlund who has an open net but his touch lets him down and it gets away from him.
United really could have scored ten by now but somehow it remains goalless.
