New Spurs boss Postecoglou: I’ve won wherever I’ve been!

New Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou has vowed to excite the fans with his style of football and says he is confident of bringing success to the club.

Postecoglou joined Tottenham from Celtic last month having won the domestic treble with the Scottish outfit last season.

He faces a big task to turn Spurs’ fortunes around following a disastrous last season which saw three separate managers in the dugout and the club miss out on European football by finishing eighth in the Premier League.

But the former Australia boss says his track record of winning can bring success to Spurs.

“I love to win, that’s the main thing,” he told the club.

“I have done that wherever I have been. The football is designed to bring success.

“Alongside that, it’s really important to me that there is an element of something most fans and most players want to be associated with. It’s football that is exciting, that people talk about.

“It’s not just the end result but the manner in which you play your football, and that is really important to me because I think it’s a way of being successful and secondly it allows people to grab onto those things that are most special about our game.

“It’s what I try to provide. You never get it right in all aspects but the basis of it will be we want to be a team that wins things but ultimately also entertain the fans.”

The 57-year-old has already bolstered his squad with the additions of goalkeeper Guglielmo Vicario and attacking midfielder James Maddison from Empoli and Leicester City respectively, as well as securing the permanent signing of Dejan Kulusevski following a successful loan spell at the club.

And Postecoglou says his new signings can be key in helping Spurs to enjoy an improved next season.

“It’s not just about the talent that they bring as footballers but what they bring as people as well, because we are going to play football that requires a certain kind of personality and character,” he explained.

“Both of those guys have got it in abundance. I could hear it in their voices when I spoke to them, I knew that they were the right types to bring into the dressing room.”
