Guardiola says today's win was City's best performance at home since he's been in charge

Man City boss Pep Guardiola@ “This is the best performance we have played in this stadium since my decade here. That is consistency and that is why I am proud.”

Howe says his side ran out of energy

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe speaking to TNT Sports: “Good start from us, really good for half an hour. Probably two things happened we couldn’t sustain our start in terms of energy but they also played really well. We just have to accept that.

“I felt we maybe ran out of gas, certainly in the second half but also towards the end of the first half. You have to say they were a very good side. We needed the ball to try and generate pressure but we couldn’t get enough of it.”

90'+6
FULL TIME: (Newcastle 1-3 Manchester City)

And City go marching on to the quarter-finals of the FA Cup, beating Newcastle for the fourth time this season. The hosts took the lead through Harvey Barnes in the 18th minute, before Savinho restored parity 21 minutes later with one of the most bizzare equalisers you are likely to see. An invigorated City side emerged after half time, with Omar Marmoush firing the visitors ahead within two minutes of the restart. Marmoush quickly became the stuff of Newcastle nightmares, as his outside of the box effort in the 65th minute sailed past Ramsdale to send City on their way and condemn Newcastle to another cup exit. It’s another disappointing result for Eddie Howe and his side, who welcome Barcelona to St. James’ Park on Tuesday evening. Stay tuned for both Eddie Howe and Pep Guardiola’s post-match reactions here.

GOAL: Manchester City - Marmoush (Newcastle 1-3 Manchester City)

And City have one foot in the next round. It’s that man Omar Marmoush again. Picking the ball up on the edge of the box, the City forward takes one touch to shift it onto his right foot and fire one goalwards. Ramsdale had no chance, and could only stand and watch as Marmoush’s effort nestled in the side netting. Newcastle have a mountain to climb now.

It’s an all too similar story to City’s equaliser, and the visitors take the lead.
