Hayters TV rounds up the latest Premier League transfer news, including reports that Man City would like to sign Mateo Kovacic from Chelsea while Man Utd are said to be eyeing several new additions this summer…
KOVACIC TO CITY?
According to the Telegraph, Manchester City are monitoring Chelsea’s Mateo Kovacic with the midfielder soon set to enter the last 12 months of his contract.
The Blues have bolstered their midfield of late with the £107m signing of Enzo Fernandez, and the club have yet to tie Kovacic down to an extended deal.
Kovacic has struggled for game time of late due to a combination of injury and illness, but did start in Chelsea’s 1-0 defeat to Southampton.
The former Real Madrid man originally joined Chelsea on loan in 2018 before making his move permanent in 2019, winning both the Europa League and Champions League during his time at the club.
UNITED SET FOR BUSY SUMMER?
Man Utd could be set for a busy summer transfer window, particularly if a rumoured takeover of the club by one of the various interested buyers goes ahead.
Current owners, the Glazer family, are exploring a full or partial sale of the club, with INEOS CEO Jim Ratcliffe and Qatar’s Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad Al Thani among those to have bid.
Erik Ten Hag recently won his first trophy as United boss by beating Newcastle in the Carabao Cup final last week, and is now reportedly keen on further bolstering his squad in the pursuit of more silverware.
The Manchester Evening News say Ten Hag wants to make at least two significant signins this summer, with Napoli striker Victor Osimhen and Ajax attacking midfieldr Mohammed Kudus among those on his list of targets.
Meanwhile Spanish outlet Sport say Frenkie De Jong also remains a United target, with the club having failed in their bid to bring in the midfielder last summer.
KANTE ‘CLOSE’ TO AGREEING NEW CHELSEA DEAL
N’Golo Kante has enured a frustrating season, having missed the majority of it through injury.
His current contract expires at the end of this season but despite his injury struggles, Chelsea are reportedly set to extend his stay at the club with talks at an “advanced stage”.
That’s according to football transfers journalist Fabrizio Romano, who claims there are options for Kante to leave the club on a free transfer but that he would like to remain at the Blues.
KEITA SET FOR GERMANY RETURN?
Naby Keita’s move to Liverpool from RB Leipzig in 2018 has not exactly worked out as all would have hoped. While winning a lot of silverware at the club, he struggled to make the impact on the pitch that Jurgen Klopp would have been hoping for when he joined.
And now it looks as though his time at the club is approaching its end, with his contract set to expire at the end of this season and with no deal currently in place for him to extend his stay.
German newspaper Bild say Keita’s former club RB Leipzig as well as Borussia Dortmund are both keen on bringing in Keita on a free transfer in the summer.
