Pep ‘so proud’ after Manchester City’s 3-1 win in Danish capital

Pep Guardiola was delighted with his side’s performance as Manchester City ran out 3-1 winners against FC Copenhagen in the Champions League.

Goals from Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva and Phil Foden helped put City in a strong position in their last 16 first leg tie.

An upbeat Guardiola was beaming with pride as his side took a two goal cushion back to the Etihad.

“It was really good, so proud. The play today was perfect. They (FC Copenhagen) are so organised. Really good. I am really proud of my team again. It is not done”, said Guardiola.

“The third goal helped us a lot and hopefully we can finish at home with our people to go to the next round.

“The game was really well played from minute one. We concede a goal but sometimes it happens. In the second half they played five at the back, we struggled a little bit.

“In general we conceded few (chances)”

Manchester City suffered a couple of injuries in Denmark with Jack Grealish and Silva forced off during the game.

Grealish only lasted 20 minutes, before being replaced by Jeremy Doku.

The English winger has had limited minutes of late, and looked visibly downbeat after going down under a challenge. His manager gave an update on the situation.

“I didn’t speak with the doctor but it looks muscular. A pity, in the last days his attitude in training was much, much better. He helps us find the right tempo”, said the City boss.

“Bernardo and Jack help us in the right moments to help us attack, it is a pity but it is what it is. He (Grealish) was gutted. He wanted play for sure.”
