Pochettino unsure of further Chelsea signings ahead of transfer deadline

Mauricio Pochettino admits he does not know whether Chelsea will be able to add to the squad before Friday’s transfer deadline.

The Chelsea boss has been keen to sign another goalkeeper and an attacking player before the window shuts having already overseen another huge summer of change at the club with several incomings and outgoings.

Pochettino says those behind the scenes are “working hard” to complete more deals but insists he is happy with his squad if they do not manage to add anyone else.

“Yes, I am happy,” Pochettino said when asked if he was satisfied with his squad.

“I am really happy with the squad we have got at the moment. If we can add some, then maybe we can improve different positions, of course that’s welcome.

“But if not, I am happy to be how we are now.”

And asked if there were going to be further signings, Pochettino added: “I don’t know, to be honest.

“I know very well that the club is working really hard to try to finish our business. There’s still a few days, something can happen, maybe yes.

“But at the moment we’re working and the club are trying to deliver what we want. But there’s nothing to communicate at the moment.”

Several players could also leave the club before the transfer window closes, with Romelu Lukaku set to join Roma on loan and the likes of Trevoh Chalobah and Marc Cucurella also potentially on the way out.

“I am not involved in these situations, I’m focused on the team,” Pochettino said.

“The club are working with the players but in that case I am not involved in the situation.

“Nothing has changed at the moment, no one communicated that it was finished in some situations.

“I cannot talk about rumours. At the moment he (Cucurella) is going to be available to play. At the moment the club didn’t inform me about this situation.

“All the players in the squad are players that are in our plans. And then it’s about situations between the club and the player, and a decision.”
