Chelsea boss Mauricio Pocchetino hopes his side can build positive momentum after advancing in the Carabao Cup.
Chelsea edged past fellow Premier League side Brighton by a goal to nil to reach round four where they will host Blackburn Rovers.
That was Chelsea’s first victory since their win in the previous round against AFC Wimbledon at the end of August.
“Good response from the team, I am very pleased with the performance again. I am happy for the victory.
“It is important to go through in the competition and build our trust and momentum. I hope that we can build this momentum for the future from today.”
Nicolas Jackson got the only goal in a competitive affair. Chelsea’s first goal in four games. Chelsea will hope they can take the positive result into Monday’s Premier League game at Fulham.
“Very pleased. It is always important for the striker to score. He needed to find the net. It was an important game for him.
“I think the team was really good. We assessed all the players and I think all the players were at a good level.
“Even in a difficult moment we were calm. Today was a must win, we needed to win this game. The pressure to win. That does not mean always to play perfect.”
