Ange Postecoglou says Tottenham have to be considered in the title race based on their current league position.
Spurs sit fifth in the Premier League table ahead of their clash with Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday and are just six points behind league leaders Liverpool.
Postecoglou has had to deal with injuries to key players this season and suffered a run of four defeats in five games during October and November which derailed a brilliant start to the campaign which had seen them top the Premier League table.
But the Spurs boss says his side still have to be considered as in with a chance of winning it.
When asked if his team are in the title race, he said: “By definition we are, aren’t we?
“So yes we are, and I’ve said all along that until the point where you’re not, why would you even discount the possibility?
“We’ve gone through a really tough period but we’ve been hanging in there. We had four games I think where the results went against us but we’ve kind of clawed our way back.
“We had a little setback but we’re still in there. I think our performances for the most part have been pretty consistent but all of that is meaningless unless we finish the season stronger than we have been in the first and that’s what we’ve got to do.”
