A Premier League temporary ban on loan deals between associated clubs will not go ahead in January after the minimum requirement for the vote to be passed was not reached.
The vote was 13 to seven in favour of banning loan deals between related clubs but a minimum of 14 clubs was required for the vote to be passed.
Clubs voted at a Premier League shareholders meeting on Tuesday and means clubs with the same ownership will still be able to loan players from one another as it stands.
Newcastle United are one side who could benefit from the vote not being passed, with their owners the Saudi PIF also owning several Saudi Pro League clubs.
Former Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves is reportedly of interest to Magpies boss Eddie Howe, who is dealing with something of an injury crisis while big summer signing Sandro Tonali is suspended for betting activity.

Manchester City, meanwhile, can loan players from the City Football Group, including La Liga leaders Girona.
