Rob Edwards on potential January spending

“We might have to [generate funds]. It depends on what we want to try and bring in.

“January can be quite difficult anyway and we want to bring in the right people, the ones who want to be here and who feel can affect it. But if we are going to spend it, we might have to generate some of that.”

Marco Silva on links to Chelsea

”I’m not going to talk about links or rumours. If you want to speak about the Chelsea game, we can speak after Liverpool.”

Emery on Harvey Elliott - says Villa 'not convinced'

“I am respecting him all we can because he’s a very good professional, very respectful but the situation we have is something.

“The problem we have with Harvey is this year he is on loan and in case he is playing matches, we must buy him.

“We decided two months ago we are not convinced to sign him, spending the money we need.”

Liam Rosenior on Chelsea links

“In life, there are zero guarantees. You never know what tomorrow will bring. I’m just doing my job. There’s already been speculation.

“I don’t want to guarantee how long I’ll be here, but I enjoy myself here every day. I intend to continue doing so as long as I’m here. I love this club, but I can’t guarantee anything. Nobody can.”

Pep Guardiola on whether he intends to be Man City manager next season

“Oh my god. I have a contract, I said a thousand million times!

“I know you’re bored of me, 10 years here, I’m pretty sure of that. I will leave one day, I promise you. But I have a contract, I’m happy, I want to fight with my team, the hierarchy respects me – proven last season, what happened in this club, we didn’t win one game in three months, and they support me.”

Ruben Amorim on injuries

“No different issues. We are going to see tomorrow. We have one more training. I don’t think that anyone is going to recover but we will see.”

Calum McFarlane on if there is anything to lose for him and Chelsea on Sunday

“I think that we know we’re up against a really good team in really good form with a great manager, but we have a really good team. I wouldn’t say we have nothing to lose, no.”

Calum McFarlane on the players asking questions about the situation

“Probably not to me. In the short space of time I’ve worked with them, all my conversations have been about what Sunday is going to like.”

Calum McFarlane on watching City

“Of course. We found out after lunchtime yesterday so we had the whole of yesterday to watch their games and see what they look like. Quite lucky they played last night, so we could see that game.”

Calum McFarlane on the Chelsea owners

“We’ve had a lot of really good support in the last 24 hours or so. In my six months at the club, I can only speak positively about the plans, the project, and the opportunity the academy lads are getting.”

Strasbourg manager Liam Rosenior on links to Chelsea

“I’m going to talk about Nice because it’s my job. There is a lot of noise, a lot of speculation but as a coach, if you are interested in it, you fail. My job is here, I like this club.”

Pep Guardiola on Enzo Maresca leaving Chelsea

“Only I can say that Chelsea, I think from my point of view, lost an incredible, incredible manager, an incredible person. But it’s a decision from the hierarchy of Chelsea, so nothing to say.”

Iraola confirms Semenyo will definitely play against Arsenal

“Yes, Antoine is going to play, yes.”

Iraola on whether Semenyo wants to leave

“You will have to ask him. I don’t know. I know what I want. I think Antoine is behaving really, really well. There is a lot of noise around him and he is being a top professional and I’m sure he will be until the last day.”

Iraola on whether Bournemouth’s game against Arsenal will be Semenyo’s final game

“No, no. I think the idea at least is that he’s going to be available for these two games that we have in a very short turnaround. I hope he can be here more time but I don’t know what is going to happen.”

Hurzeler on whether a deal has been agreed with Borussia Dortmund for Gross

“Let’s see. He’s not our player, he’s Dortmund’s, so that’s why I think I can’t say anything like that.”

Fabian Hurzeler on whether Brighton might resign Pascal Gross

“I definitely like him as a player and also, when he was gone, I had contact with him because we tried to get him to stay here, but he wanted to follow his dreams, which we respected.

“We continued to follow him because he’s a player who did great things for the club. We rate him highly.”

Howe on Elanga and Botman

“They’re both very close. Sven’s been training with the group which has been great so I envisage that he will be in and around this game.

“Anthony hasn’t trained with us yet but is very close to doing so.”

Howe on Livramento and Trippier

“We’ve got a couple of training days but Tino and Kieran have worked really well.

“They’ve had proper recovery periods so they are both close. Lewis Miley I have said time and again how well he has done in a position he hasn’t played before, again against Burnley I thought he was magnificent for us but we’d love to get our full-backs back fit and available and boost the squad in terms of numbers.

“We’ve been very thin on the ground for defenders so that will be a big area.”

Howe on not having the control he would like in some games

“I don’t think we have had the control we would have liked in some games. Sometimes we have self inflicted problems on ourselves.

“Going back to Burnley, there was a period of about ten to 15 minutes where we were turning the ball over too much and that gave them confidence and belief to come back into the game when it looked like we were going to take full control.”

Howe on Newcastle not keeping a clean sheet in last 12 games

“Strange one, because I’m going to come back with another stat. Our stats, xG – I know everyone can have different opinions on XG – we’re the second-best team in the Premier League for defensive performance.

“And that makes that stat that you give me frustrating because we shouldn’t have conceded some of the goals that we have. Our defensive record in terms of goals conceded should be better.

“It’s a surprising return, that, because I think there’s been games where I’ve walked off and gone, ‘We should have kept a clean sheet, there’s no way we should have conceded today’.

“But concentration levels, details, individual moments, we’ve got to be better at.”

More from Howe on his tactics

“We have a very strong plan for every situation. We just need to deliver it better.

“That’s where I am and the focus is towards the players and trying to improve performances all the time.”

Eddie Howe on whether he has a plan B

“A Plan B? That is always a difficult one. If you have too many Plan Bs that means your Plan A is flawed. Your players are then thinking ‘What next?’

“Instead of trying to deliver a Plan A to the best of their ability. So we have loads of different ways of playing but within the structures and principles of what we believe in.“

Trossard form

Asked about Trossard’s form this season, Arteta hails the impact of the Belgian and says he has gone up a level every season.

Arteta on Arsenal's improved discipline

Arteta was also asked about Arsenal’s improved disciplinary record this season, and praised his players. “We know how important it is.”
