Tottenham injury update

Thomas Frank says Cristian Romero has been back out on the grass following his injury, but Destiny Udogie is yet to return to training.

Dominic Solanke is progressing well but still not ready.

Amorim not getting carried awayR

Ruben Amorim insists he is not getting carried away by the win over rivals Liverpool last time out.

“If [Cody] Gakpo’s shot was 20cm different then the narrative would be different.

“My point of view is that we need to be clear on our path and not change so much because we win one game.”

Maguire and Mount doubts

Ruben Amorim says Harry Maguire and Mason Mount are both injury concerns for the game against Brighton.

“The squad is fine, we have some doubts. We had some issues during the week with Harry Maguire and Mason Mount.

“Nothing serious but some knocks. We will see tomorrow.”

Glasner praises Eze ahead of reunion

Ahead of his reunion with former Crystal Palace star Ebere Eze this weekend against Arsenal, Oliver Glasner praised the England international.

“We lost a player who could decide games on his own with one situation,” he said.

More on Khusanov

Guardiola says Khusanov is not far from returning but won’t be available this weekend.

“I think he’s close but he’s still not ready from having an injury in a dangerous, dangerous position in his body.”

Guardiola wants more consistency

“We have good momentum but not the consistency for 90.

“We are starting to understand opponents and what we want to do. Our mentality and our body language is in the right spot and it will make us stable.

“[We need to] play better during 95 minutes, we play good but we need to play better.”

Guardiola unsure on Gonzalez involvement

Guardiola on whether Nico Gonzalez can play this weekend: “I didn’t see the doctors, we’ll see today and tomorrow how he feels.

“It was something with his feet.”

Khusanov and Rodri still out

Pep Guardiola confirms that both Khusanov and Rodri are not yet fit enough to return this weekend against Aston Villa.

Pep Guardiola speaking shortly

Pep Guardiola should be speaking to the media in the next few minutes, followed by Mikel Arteta, Ruben Amorim and Thomas Frank later.

More from Maresca on conversations with Guiu

Enzo Maresca shared the tough conversations he had with Marc Guiu about his training.

“We had a chat with Marc two weeks ago, I told him that the way he was training I didn’t like and he needs to change,” he said. “He changes and he got a chance, so it is like that.

“He was not training well. In all the ways.”

Guiu is improving

Marc Guiu was given a start on Wednesday and scored in the 5-1 thrashing against Ajax.

Maresca had previously said he needed to improve in order to get more game time and now says he is seeing that from the Spaniard.

Estevao is 'special'

Maresca says Joao Pedro and Andrey Santos have been helping fellow Brazilian Estevao a lot since he joined the club.

He adds that the youngster is a “special” player.

Slot backs Salah

“Players miss chances and he is a human being. We are not used to him missing chances.

“The main thing is that he always has scored goals for Liverpool. The last thing I worry about is Mo scoring goals again. He’s done that his entire life and I expect him to do that again in the coming weeks and months.

“Quite a few changes in the squad means everyone needs to find new connections.”

Liverpool being punished for mistakes

Slot on Liverpool’s recent league form: “At the moment if we do one tiny thing wrong then we concede. We have to make sure that we do things 10 out of 10 times perfect.

“Some moments have been unlucky. A period of time like this, you have to be perfect.”

Delap back in training

Enzo Maresca says Chelsea striker Liam Delap trained with the team this week following his hamstring injury.

He won’t be available this weekend but could return for the following game.

Injury blows for Liverpool

Alexander Isak is a doubt for Liverpool this weekend while Jeremie Frimpong has been ruled out altogether.

“Jeremie Frimpong is not in a good place, he won’t play today, tomorrow or next week,” Slot said. “Hamstring injuries take a while.

“Alexander [Isak] is not too bad. He is a question mark for the weekend so we will see where he is and that is the same with Ryan Gravenberch.

“Alisson Becker is also not in the squad.”

Tonali still a doubt for Newcastle

Eddie Howe has also been speaking to the media this morning, and says midfielder Sandro Tonali remains a doubt after missing the Champions League game against Benfica through illness.

“Everybody has come through [the Benfica game] OK. Obviously after a game there are a couple of sore bodies but nothing serious,” he said.

“Sandro is still the player we are monitoring. He did train on Wednesday but didn’t feel 100% so he is the one that is probably touch and go for the game.”
