Live updates from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium as Spurs host Newcastle in a huge game for both clubs, who are in serious need of a win.

Frank still confident in himself

“1000% sure,” Frank says when asked if he believes he is the right man to lead Spurs.

“I’m also 1000% sure that I never expected us to be in a situation like this with 11 or 12 injuries on the back of this and what we have been facing.

“I know when you’re building something you need to get through things and show unbelievably strong resilience.

“I think it’s fair to say there’s been a few more before me sat up here, not only for Tottenham but many other clubs, who have lost their head many times and I think you need to have a calm head, carry on, keep fighting, keep doing the right things, make sure we stick together.

“You can only get through this together. That’s the board, the leaders, the players, the staff, me, the fans. We only get through this together.”

Frank on attacking struggles

“I think the injuries need to be taken massively into consideration.

“I haven’t really said it too much, but I think every one can see that is impacting things.”

Any update on Odobert?

“Not yet. I hope it’s nothing too serious but I don’t know what it could be. I hope it’s not a serious injury.”

Frank convinced he will be in charge for next game

Frank on whether he will be in charge against Arsenal: “Yeah, I’m convinced I will be.

“I understand the question. I understand that it’s easy to point at me, but I also think it’s never only the head coach, or the ownership, or the directors, or the players, or the staff. It’s everyone.

“Everyone knows, directors, ownership, myself, what position we are in and what we need to improve and do better. That’s what we’re working very hard on.”

Frank on the angry reaction from Spurs fans again

Spurs boss Thomas Frank: “I understand the fans’ frustration. We are in a position we don’t want to be in, which we’re working very hard day and night to change.

“I think it’s a situation the club has been in, it’s fair to say, for almost two years, at the end of last season as well.

“Clearly it’s a pattern that we struggle to manage Europe and Premier League. That’s something me, the team, the club, the players, need to learn to do better physically and mentally to deal with that.

“Then we face a Newcastle team that is struggling a little bit lately but if you look at the team they put on the pitch, compared to what they’ve done the last few years, I think it’s fair to say it’s quite different to us.”

“Part of it is of course the 11 injuries, well ten plus a suspension plus another injury today, which of course doesn’t help.”

Another Guimaraes injury worry

In bad news for Newcastle, Howe is worried about another potential injury for Bruno Guimaraes: “Not sure. He’s a little bit worried.

“He said he’s never had a problem with his hamstrings before so is it cramp, was it a muscle problem?

“It probably feels more of an injury to me but let’s wait and see and try and stay positive at this moment.”

Howe delighted for Ramsey

“He was excellent. Takes the ball in any moment, under pressure, and is really reliable with it.

“In that position, you need to score and I thought it was a great finish from him with his left foot.

“A fitting reward really because I think he has improved, I think his performances have been getting slowly better and stronger. He’s a really talented player and I’m delighted for him.”

Howe thanks Newcastle fans

Howe on his celebrations with the fans: “I think it was probably more in recognition that we haven’t won away enough. Our supporters have travelled far and wide to watch us and we feel like we’ve let them down on a few occasions, so nice today that we get that moment to celebrate with them.

“Not just me, but the players and some of the new players get a chance to experience the love from the fans. That was a special connection and I’m grateful it’s still there.”

Howe hails 'dominant' display

Newcastle boss Eddie Howe: “A great response from the players, they really did inspire each other and help each other. I think it was one of our best performances of the season, a dominant display.”

Ramsey delighted after first Newcastle goal

Match winner Jacob Ramsey speaking to TNT Sports: “Obviously my first goal today was just pure emotion.

“I’m feeling good, feeling fit, and I just want to keep scoring goals, getting assists, and helping the team.”
