The FIVE youngest players at the Qatar World Cup

The World Cup has always been known for shining a spotlight on some of the greatest players in world football and it could be time for the teenage superstars to take centre stage in Qatar.

Let’s take a look at the five youngest players at this year’s Qatar World Cup.

#5 Bilal El Khannouss (Morocco) – 10 May 2004 (age 18 years)

Bilal El Khannouss was named in Morocco’s final 26-man squad and will be the youngest player in the team. The 18-year old midfielder will be in amongst the likes of Chelsea’s Hakim Ziyech and Paris Saint-Germain’s Achraf Hakimi. El Khannouss chose to represent Morocco over Belgium and could well make his first senior appearance for his country at the World Cup.

#4 Jewison Bennette (Costa Rica) – 15 June 2004 (age 18 years)

Jewison Bennette is a winger who plays for Sunderland in the Championship. The 18 year-old has already made seven appearances for his country, Costa Rica, scoring twice and providing two assists. Bennette may not be a starter for Costa Rica, but the winger has proven that he can make a real impact off the bench.

#3 Gavi (Spain) – 5 August 2004 (age 18 years)

Gavi is set to play a key role in Spain’s World Cup campaign, he’s already made 12 appearances for his country and is a regular starter for Barcelona. The Spanish wonderkid has already established himself as the one to watch this tournament, after he won the 2022 Golden Boy and Kopa Trophy, making Gavi the best current under-21 player in world football.

#2 Garang Kuol (Australia) – 15 September 2004 (age 18 years)

Garang Kuol was named as the youngest pick in Australia’s 26-man squad at the age of 18. Kuol plays for the Central Coast Mariners in the A-League and has scored five goals in 11 first-team matches. However, Kuol is yet to start a match in his senior career and is now set to represent his country for the first time on the greatest stage of them all.

#1 Youssoufa Moukoko (Germany) – 20 November 2004 (age 17 years)

Youssoufa Moukoko bursted onto the scene in the Bundesliga, when he was just 16 for Borussia Dortmund. Now, the German forward has made 59 appearances for his club and his good form this season has now been rewarded with a call-up to the German World Cup squad. Moukoko, who is now 17, has 12 G/A in all competitions this season and is catching the eye of many top European clubs.
