Pep Guardiola says he got his tactics wrong in Manchester City’s FA Cup final defeat to Manchester United.
United were two goals ahead at half-time thanks to Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo before Jeremy Doku pulled one back late in the game.
And Guardiola believes his own decisions were to blame for the defeat.
“For my decisions, we were not in the right position to attack them,” he said.
It’s my mistake, the game plan was not good.
“They were focused and the reaction in the second half was really good.
“The players know the reason why. Tactically it was not good, I had the feeling that it was not good today.
“You plan a game with positions but it didn’t work, it’s as simple as that.
“We’re disappointed as is normal when a team loses a final but this season has again been extraordinary, fighting for all the trophies and we will come back next season.
“Now we are sad but we will celebrate tomorrow what an incredible achievement we have done and come back, it’s as simple as that.”
