Ange Postecoglou was pleased with his players resolve as Spurs grabbed a dramatic late point at the Etihad Stadium.
Dejan Kulusevski scored a stoppage time headed equaliser to draw 3-3 in another thrilling game in the Premier League.
Spurs fought back twice after going behind to the Champions, and earned a point after three straight defeats.
Postecoglou recognised that his side had to ride a storm, but were ultimately rewarded for their performance.
“First half we were lucky to still be in it and City could have blown us away with the chances they had. We didn’t seem to have belief in ourselves and kept giving the ball away”, said the Spurs boss.
“Sometimes when you don’t take your chances you’re punished. We needed to calm down at half time and the effort in the second half was excellent.
“We made it uncomfortable for City the whole second half, scored three quality goals. Pleased for the players for the effort they put in.
“I always feel that if you can get through these tough periods in the manner of staying true to the team you want to be then you come out of it stronger, irrespective of the knocks you get along the way.”
Spurs have had their fair share of injury worries, but Postecoglou is optimistic that some of his star men will be returning to the fold soon.
There is still a long way to go in some of his players’ recovery, but the Spurs boss is hoping that momentum will be revitalised heading into the Christmas period.
“We’ve gone through a fairly extreme time. We’ll get Romero back and we’ve missed him. Richarlison got some game time, Pape Sarr will hopefully be available by the end of the week but the rest won’t be back for a while”, Postecoglou said.
“As we get the players back I’m confident we’ll pick up some momentum and we can battle with anyone.”
