“We will be much stronger after the window” – ten Hag adamant United will improve

Erik ten Hag has stressed that Manchester United will get stronger after the January transfer window.

Erik ten Hag has confirmed that key players are still missing from the matchday squad, ahead of the hectic festive fixture schedule.

United travel to West Ham, before hosting Aston Villa on Boxing Day. They finish the year by travelling to Nottingham Forest.

Ten Hag first provided an update on both Casemiro and Lisandro Martinez.

“Not available before Christmas. In January we expect them back”, ten Hag said.

“Mason Mount similar, into January. Maguire I expect early on and Lindelof is not available. He has done a surgery, so he will be out for a couple of weeks. He had a problem, he has to do the surgery.

“The current squad, I am happy. As we get our players back, we have a good squad. I think a lot of our… the way it went, the reasons behind… many players not available.

“When players are back – Casemiro will be back, Martinez will be back, Mason Mount will be back – we will be much stronger after the window.”

Summer signing Rasmus Hojlund is still without a Premier League goal. The Danish has made 13 league appearances, but has yet to fine the net.

Ten Hag believes the striker’s mentality is still positive, despite the drought in front of goal.

We are open. He is open. His mentality is great. He is a very good performer with stress; he deals with that. But it is not all about Rasmus; it is about Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Bruno Fernandes, Scott McTominay.

Don’t forget our full-backs who have to be a big part of that. I’m sure we will improve. If our squad is full, it is better in balance and we should create more chances.
