Tottenham have agreed a £12.5m deal to sign Czech Republic U21 goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky from Slavia Prague.
The 21-year-old is set to fly to London and have a medical on Saturday evening, as Ange Postecoglou battles with goalkeeper availability issue. First choice shot stopper Guglielmo Vicario is out until at least February with a fractured ankle, whilst second choice Fraser Forster became the latest Spurs player to be ruled out after falling victim to the Lilywhites’ recent illness outbreak. This resulted in third choice goalkeeper Brandon Austin earning a first team debut at 25-years-old against Newcastle.
Kinsky has kept 12 clean sheets in 19 appearances in the Czech First League for top of the table Slavia this season, conceding just seven goals. The Czechia youth international has also played in all of Slavia Prague’s European games this campaign, with four coming in the Champions League qualifiers and six coming in the Europa League, with Slavia down in 29th place and on the verge of elimination.
He is represented by Sport Invest, who former Chelsea goalkeeper Petr Cech has worked with, and are seen in the industry as highly skilled in eyeing the best Czech goalkeepers.
He is the son of former Czechia goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky, who played all of his career in the formerly known Czech Republic and Russia. He also earned five caps for his country in a two year spell. He was number two to Cech during their country’s run to the Euro 2004 semi-final.
Spurs will hope Kinsky can hit the ground running once all the formalities have been completed, with Postecoglou’s side struggling with injuries and form at the back having conceded 30 goals in the league already this campaign.
