Five things we learned from Chelsea 4-2 Leicester

Chelsea booked themselves a second trip to Wembley this season, with a 4-2 win over ten-man Leicester in the FA Cup quarter finals.

Here are five takeaways from the game

Chukwuemeka to the rescue

It took a stoppage time winner from Carney Chukwuemeka to send Chelsea to the FA Cup semi-finals after a frantic back and fourth tie against ten-man Leicester. Noni Madueke made the game safe with a lovely curling effort in the dying seconds. But a well worked goal won the game, assisted with a wonderful flick from Cole Palmer

Bittersweet day for Poch

Despite reaching Wembley, many of the Chelsea fans voiced their discontent at a substitution in the second half. Mykhailo Mudryk made way for Chukwuemeka and chants of ‘you don’t know what you’re doing’ were heard around Stamford Bridge. Fans were also upset at the performance of Raheem Sterling. Pochetttino had the last laugh, with Chukwuemeka scoring the winner. Pochettino may be aware he is still yet to convince some of the Chelsea faithful.

Marc off the mark

It only took 13 minutes for Chelsea to go ahead thanks to Marc Cucurella. He was found at the back post after great work from Nicolas Jackson. The striker put it on a plate for the Spaniard who could not miss. It was the former Brighton man’s second start since returning from a long term injury, having not featured since December.

Mixed day for Sterling

It was a day to forget for Sterling, after failing to convert from the penalty, and missing a one-on-one. He did not let his head drop, and drove into space and picked out Cole Palmer for Chelsea’s second goal. It was a great assist, and the perfect way to respond. However he ballooned over a free-kick in the second half which triggered boos from the home fans. He was jeered off by some too.

Disasi disaster

What was he thinking? Axel Disasi with a moment of madness. He played a back pass towards Robert Sanchez but it was wayward and ended up going in the back of the Chelsea net. It gave Leicester the most freakish route back in the cup tie, but Chelsea eventually prevailed. Disasi’s blushes were spared. An incredible own goal.
