Mauricio Pochettino revealed that some of his Chelsea players ‘didn’t sleep’ the night before their Carabao Cup final against Liverpool back in February.
Chelsea have a chance to reach Wembley again if they can defeat Leicester City in Sunday’s FA Cup quarter-final, after already playing in the Carabao Cup final this season.
This provides another chance for Pochettino to win his first trophy in English football after the 1-0 defeat he suffered against Jurgen Klopp’s side.
The Chelsea manager believes the experience at Wembley will help his young squad for the future.
“For us to beat Leicester, for around the dressing room would be massive for us, for this young team to play at Wembley again,” he said.
“Some players didn’t sleep the day before the final and that is only about experience, to make us better.
“To reach another semi-final would be so good and to challenge for the final, to also reach Europe through the FA Cup.
“First of all we think of Leicester, they’re doing very well in the Championship and it’ll be tough to beat them.”
