Five players who could be on the move in January

The January transfer window is imminent and many Premier League sides are already being linked with new players to bolster their squad. The rumour mill is in full flow, so we decided to take a deeper look into the stories making the headlines.

Here are five players linked to Premier League clubs who could possibly be in for a move…

Dominic Calvert-Lewin – Everton to Newcastle

Dominic Calvert-Lewin has returned to form for Everton this season upon coming back from injury, scoring four goals so far this campaign. Newcastle are already blessed with Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak as striking options, but the Newcastle owners are not shy when it comes to splashing the cash and it will take more investment for the Magpies to reach the next level.

It would take a large offer to make Everton even consider selling, especially as Calvert-Lewin one of their most important assets in the relegation battle ahead. Everton’s points deduction also means they need to do everything they can to keep their best players at Goodison Park but could mean they are pressured to sell for financial reasons. A rumour to certainly keep an eye on, and possible European football would be hard to turn down for the Everton number nine.

Ivan Toney – Brentford to ?

Arsenal, Chelsea and Tottenham have been heavily linked to Ivan Toney. The striker has been out of action for Brentford since May, due to an eight month ban for breaching FA betting rules. Brentford have had no issues scoring goals this season, but with the addition of Toney up front, they would likely be even higher in the league standings.

Arsenal and Chelsea have been the front runners for his signature, with Tottenham perhaps in need of a new number nine too after Harry Kane’s departure although Heung-Min Son has filled the void brilliantly so far. Toney will have his eyes on still making the England squad for Euro 2024, and he will be keen to return to action with a point to prove. Reports have suggested that his services would cost up to £100M, which would be one of the highest transfer fees in Premier League history. Thomas Frank has been bullish on wanting to keep Toney, but with the big sharks lurking, Toney may want to jump ship.

Andre – Fluminense to Fulham

Andre has been touted as one of the most exciting midfielders in South America. The defensive midfielder plays for Fluminense in Brazil and has caught the eye of a few Premier League clubs. The 22-year-old has recently broke into the Brazi squad, and is looking set on a move to England in January. Reports have linked Fulham with a move for the exciting youngster which would be a big coup for Marco Silva’s side and a huge statement of intent if they were to beat some of the Premier League big boys to his signature.

Khvicha Kvaratskhelia – Napoli to Chelsea

Georgian winger Khvicha Kvaratskhelia is one of Europe’s brightest prospects. He helped Napoli win the Serie A last season, scoring 12 goals and racking up 13 assists. Chelsea are a team who have been linked with the winger, and could possibly make a move for him in January. Napoli are closing in on securing a place in the knockouts of the Champions League, a competition Chelsea are not in this season.

Will Kvaratskhelia want to swap the Serie A and Champions League for the Premier League? Todd Boehly spent a fortune on transfers last January. Will he start to do the same in 2024, by securing the signature of Kvaratskhelia? Time will tell.

Marc Guehi – Crystal Palace to Tottenham

Marc Guehi has arguably been one of the most underrated Premier League players over the last couple of years. His partnership at the back with Joachim Andersen has been incredibly successful, and Guehi’s good work earned him a spot in the England squad, where he has now made nine appearances under Gareth Southgate.

Tottenham may need to dip into the market due to injury concerns, especially to centre-back Micky van de Ven. Guehi is now knocking on the door of a starting spot for England at Euro 2024, and perhaps a move to Spurs would be beneficial and enhance his chances. Arsenal are interested too.
