WATCH: Guardiola responds to Alexander-Arnold’s comments about Manchester City

Pep Guardiola wished Trent Alexander-Arnold “a speedy recovery” when asked about the Liverpool star’s comments suggesting success means more for the Reds than it does Man City.

Manchester City head to Anfield for a huge game in the Premier League title race on Sunday, a stadium where Pep Guardiola has only won once in the league as City manager.

In the lead up to the game, Alexander-Arnold has caused a stir with his comments claiming success means more to Liverpool than it does City.

“Our trophies will mean more to us and our fanbase because of the situations at both clubs, financially,” he told Four Four Two.

“How both clubs have built their teams and the manner in which we’ve done it, probably means more to our fans.”

Erling Haaland fired back when asked about the comments by Sky Sports. “I’ve been here one year and I won the treble,” he said.

“It was quite a nice feeling and I don’t think he knows exactly this feeling.

But City boss Guardiola chose not to respond directly, instead wishing the Liverpool man well in his recovery with the defender again set to miss out on Sunday.

“I would answer but, why? Honestly. It is what it is,” he said.

“Speedy recovery for him, and come back as soon as possible.”
