‘Incredible professional’ – Guardiola delighted with Haaland double

Pep Guardiola labelled star striker Erling Haaland an “incredible professional” after Manchester City’s 3-1 win against Young Boys in the Champions League.

Haaland scored a brace in the victory, with his last goal in the champions coming almost a month ago.

Guardiola’s side now have nine points from a possible nine as they edge ever closer to the Champions League knockout stages, and the City boss was quick to praise the forward after scoring his third goal in two games.

“What is important is creating chances and maybe in the right moment of the season he will be there even better than now,” the City boss said.

“He has already scored a lot of goals in the Premier League, more than people who are getting a lot of compliments.

“We are really pleased because he is a guy who is down to earth and so humble. He is an incredible professional and a huge competitor.

“He is involved in the game, in the last games he has participated more in our process.”

Haaland’s all round game is seeming to become more apparent in recent performances, which is pleasing his boss.

The Norwegian’s tally is now up to 11 goals in all competitions, with one assist to his name too. Haaland is hitting form at the perfect time with the Manchester derby on the horizon.

“I do not want Erling to just stand still in the box and score a goal. (I want him) involved in the game, what happened in that moment. When the moment arrives in the back he will be more clever to do it.

“Hopefully we can, I still have to decide, I do not have doubts about that. A desire to improve.”
