Man Utd set to battle Arsenal for signing of striker – transfer window round-up

Manchester United are set to battle Arsenal for the signing of Bologna striker Joshua Zirkzee, according to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg.

Plettenberg says Manchester United have enquired about a January move for the 22-year-old but will have to wait until the summer because Bologna do not want to sell during the season.

Zirkzee is reportedly available in the summer for €40million (£34.5m) due to a release clause, with Arsenal also keen on signing the striker.

Arsenal are also said to be keen on Getafe striker Borja Mayoral but the Daily Express are reporting that the Gunners could be priced out of a move in January.

Sky in Germany report that United want to sign Barcelona defender Ronald Araujo and that enquiries have been made with the Spanish club over the possibility of a January move.

The 26-year-old also says he has been “surprised” by the rumours linking him with Arsenal and insists he is focused on Getafe.

And Kalvin Phillips could be set to stay at Manchester City this month with Newcastle reportedly not set to sign the midfielder.

The Telegraph say a deal for Phillips to go to Newcastle is currently off but Sky Sports are also reporting that Crystal Palace, Everton, West Ham and Juventus are keen on the 28-year-old.
