Pedri lost his battle for fitness to star in Sunday night’s epic El Clasico win over Real Madrid, but he is backing his Barca team-mates to take the La Liga title with or without him and then win a sixth Champions League trophy next season.
The Catalan giants are now 12 points clear with just 12 games to play and look to have effectively sealed the deal on a first league crown in four years with their injury-time win at the Camp Nou.
But even a first championship medal for Pedri will not satisfy the attacking midfielder tipped to dominate the game in Spain for years to come.
“Hopefully this year we can bring joy to our fans,” he said. “They have deserved it for a long time. Barça are used to winning.
“For me it would be a dream to win my first LaLiga. Any child dreams of that, and even more so for the club you love. That would be crazy.”
Pedri is also backing coach Xavi’s latest generation of young talent to push on and dominate both domestically and in Europe.
Speaking as a global TCL Mobile brand ambassador, the attacking midfielder has also targetted next month’s second leg Copa del Rey semi-final against Real Madrid as a fixture to feature in.
He added: “The younger generation at Barça is coming up at a global level.
“We are seeing many of these young players emerging with a drive to succeed all without fearing the pressure of playing for Barça. If we win those two titles it would be confirmed a little bit.
“The Champions League is the trophy that everyone wants, but LaLiga is also exceptionally important, as it rewards those who were most consistent. That makes it challenging.”
