What do Premier League clubs have planned for pre-season?

The 2023/24 season is coming towards the business end, but Premier League clubs are already announcing their pre-season plans for the 2024/25 season.

The United States and Australia will play host to some mouth-watering encounters this summer. Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea and Liverpool are all set for US tours over July and August, whilst Tottenham and Newcastle both head down under at the end of the season in May.

It has almost become a pre-season ritual that the elite of English football fly across the world to face each other, eyeing one another up before league football starts again.

Liverpool will begin life without Jurgen Klopp by playing two other Premier League giants in Arsenal and Manchester United in America. Before that, Mikel Arteta and Erik ten Hag’s teams will meet in SoFi Stadium, California as they did in 2023 where United were 2-0 winners.

Chelsea have six fixtures lined up in America including facing Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City. For the second year in a row they will also face Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney’s Welsh side Wrexham, who they beat 5-0 last year.

Tottenham and Newcastle will be heading to Australia for a post-season wind-down, with the two sides playing each other in Melbourne, Spurs boss Ange Postecoglou’s home town.

Manchester United will also play Rangers for the first time in over a decade in a pre-season match in Edinburgh before heading to the States. Pep Guardiola will be re-acquainted with Barcelona, as his Manchester City side face them in Orlando.
