WATCH: Guimarães discusses Newcastle future and admits he is ‘disappointed’ with this season

Bruno Guimarães admits he has been disappointed with this season at Newcastle and says he “doesn’t know what is going to happen” when asked about his future at the club.

Newcastle finished fourth in the Premier League last season to qualify for the Champions League but currently sit tenth in the table with just ten games left to play.

And Guimarães pointed to his side’s injury problems as a reason for their drop off since last season, though says last year’s achievements may also have come too quickly for the club.

“This season we have been struggling,” he said.

“I think we’ve had many problems with injuries and suspensions but this is part of the process. When I signed for the club, I knew that this would happen.

“I think things happened too quickly. In my two years at the club, we got to a final which we unfortunately did not win, but getting to the Champions League after 20 years (of not being in it) was massive for the club.

“This season we have been struggling because of the injuries, some strange ones. I’ve never been in a club with these type of injuries. Some injuries have been very, very strange.

“But this season has been tough and to be honest, I’m a little bit disappointed, but I knew that this would happen.”

The Brazilian midfielder has also been linked with the likes of Arsenal, Man City and Real Madrid after impressing at Newcastle and admits he does not know what the future holds for him.

“We never know what is going to happen but on my part, I’m happy at the club,” he said.

“Of course I’m disappointed about our season but I think we have still have a chance to at least finish in seventh to get Conference League, to put the club in Europe again.

“I don’t know what is going to happen in the future, but what I can say is I’m so grateful for Newcastle.”
