John Obi Mikel says Chelsea should sign his fellow Nigerian Victor Osimhen to solve their goalscoring problem.
The Chelsea legend, who won the Champions League, two Premier League titles and four FA Cups in his time at Stamford Bridge, says the Blues are crying out for a goalscorer and Osimhen would be perfect for them, comparing him to Erling Haaland.
The Napoli striker is currently at the Africa Cup of Nations with Nigeria and Mikel says he can transform misfiring Chelsea, who are currently in ninth place, nine points outside the top four.
“We need a striker, a point-man who scores goals. I know people are talking about Osimhen. We do need someone to come in and score goals. He is not the most technical guy but what he does is get you goals and that’s what we need, we need goals.”
Asked if he up to Chelsea’s level, the former midfielder responded: “I think he is, and with time he’ll get better.
“The good thing about him is that he knows what his job is. His job is not to come in and mess around on the whole thing.
“If you watch where Haaland scores most of his goals, where is it? In the box. That’s where we need Osimhen to score goals.”
