What now for Jose Mourinho? The latest odds on where he will go next

Jose Mourinho has been sacked by Roma following a disappointing run of form which sees the club sit ninth in Serie A.

The former Chelsea, Manchester United and Real Madrid boss won the Europa Conference League trophy with the club in 2022 and made the final of the Europa League last season, losing out to Sevilla on penalties.

But the 60-year-old is now looking for a new job following a poor first half of the campaign. Here are the odds of where Mourinho will end up next…

Newcastle United – 3/1

According to Oddschecker, Mourinho’s most likely next job will be with Premier League Newcastle United.

The Magpies have struggled to build on the success of last season, with injuries hampering Eddie Howe’s side who sit tenth in the Premier League table after 21 games played.

Howe has won only two of his previous ten games in charge and while there is no suggestion Howe is facing the sack just yet, odds makers think the club could turn to one of the most decorated managers in history in Mourinho should they decide to make a change.

Any Saudi Pro League team – 4/1

Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Saudi Pro League is high on the likely list of destinations for Mourinho.

Mourinho has previously stated that he is keen to work in Saudi Arabia in the future and reportedly snubbed offers to take a job there in order to stay with Roma.

Despite his managerial stock falling in recent years, Mourinho remains one of the biggest names in football for what he has achieved in the past and would be a huge coup for the Saudi Pro League.

Portugal national team – 5/1

Mourinho has yet to try his hand at international management but it would be a surprise if he did not give it a go before the end of his career, and his own home nation would certainly make the most sense.

Roberto Martinez took over at Portugal last year so it would likely be a while before the opportunity arose for Mourinho but should he opt to take a break, it wouldn’t be too surprising to see him end up in charge of the national team as his next job.

Any MLS side – 6/1

Just behind Portugal in the odds for Mourinho’s next destination is any MLS side. The MLS has raised its profile in recent times with Lionel Messi heading to Inter Miami as well as former Barcelona team-mates Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba.

FC Porto – 7/1

Mourinho is also being linked with a return to his former club Porto, the place where he first made his name in the world of football by pulling off one of the most unlikely achievements in recent football history by winning the Champions League in 2004.

Crystal Palace – 8/1

Crystal Palace are also being touted as a possible destination for Mourinho. It would certainly be a surprise and a big coup for the Eagles to land a big name like Jose should they opt to part ways with Roy Hodgson.

Other odds:

England national team -12/1

Benfica – 12/1

Sporting Lisbon – 12/1

West Ham – 16/1
