This January transfer window has seen a lack of business happen in the Premier League but here are five deals we would love to see happen on the final day of the transfer window…
Dominic Solanke to Tottenham
Finally hitting the potential shown when ripping up the youth leagues in Chelsea’s academy, the Cobham graduate is now flourishing on the south coast. 12 goals in his first 20 Premier League games this season has seen the 26-year-old surpass his total from the previous season, with a chance to add to his sole England cap coming up in March.
With Tottenham on the hunt for a clinical number nine, Solanke has all the attributes Ange Postecoglou should be looking for in a frontman. It would take a lot of money to prize the forward away from Bournemouth in the dying hours of the window.
Callum Wilson to Arsenal
A rogue choice, but yet another proven forward to add to the revitalised Arsenal attack on the hunt for a first Premier League title in 20 years. Gabriel Jesus is a superb player, but not a clinical finisher, and Eddie Nketiah has proven to not be the player the serial goalscorer they need, so a move for Wilson is quite a logical one.
Seven league goals so far in an injury hit campaign might be a turn off for the injury hit north Londoners, but with 86 goals and 27 assists for Bournemouth and Newcastle in the Premier League, it would be a deal difficult for player and club to turn down.
Dusan Vlahovic to Chelsea
Linked with a move to the Premier League and Arsenal in 2022 prior to transferring from Fiorentina to Juventus, Vlahovic’s renaissance at the Italian giants might spell bad news for the Blues. However, if there is a club who can get a deal over the line from nothing, it is Chelsea.
Christopher Nkunku has been injured up until recently, whilst Nicholas Jackson and Armando Broja have suffered with mixed form all season. Vlahovic would be a significant upgrade, with impressive strength and speed matching a clinical eye for goal which is something Mauricio Pochettino’s side dream of having.
Amadou Onana to Liverpool
This move would certainly ruffle some feathers, none more so than the blue side of Merseyside. With Everton’s FFP situation in a vicarious position, and Liverpool needing one more body in midfield to sustain a serious title charge, it appears to be a good move for both clubs.
Onana has been Everton’s standout player since his move from Lille in the summer of 2022, and it would take a sizeable bid for the Toffees to even consider selling. With Jurgen Klopp leaving Liverpool in the summer, and a possible quadruple on the line, the Reds should be doing everything in their power to ensure the German has the necessary tools to win four trophies.
Michael Olise to Manchester City
A move that could well have implications to how the seasons ends for both clubs involved, but it is about time Michael Olise waved goodbye to Selhurst Park for pastures new. The Crystal Palace player, alongside club teammate Eberechi Eze are the Eagles’ standout players, with Manchester City a potential landing point for the French winger.
Pep Guardiola’s side have been unable to find a replacement for Riyad Mahrez who left for Saudi Arabia in the summer, with Olise the ideal long-term candidate to come to Manchester. It would take a monster bid to prize Olise away from Palace, but City definitely have the necessary finances to make a deal happen.
